NZGBA Network

What we do

NZGBA brings Kiwis, friends of New Zealand and New Zealand-connected organisations together through community activities, business exchange, education and culture. We strengthen local relationships and New Zealand participation in the Greater Bay Area through independently organised activities. Residents, newcomers and visitors are welcome.

Social gatherings give residents, families, students and visitors a chance to make friends, exchange local knowledge and keep a connection with New Zealand while spending time in southern China.

The network creates opportunities for peer discussion, visiting groups and event participation. Future business activities will state their intended audience and any participation requirements. Commercial sourcing, factory auditing and freight services are separate from NZGBA's community and editorial work.

  • Exchange industry knowledge with people working between New Zealand and the region.
  • Meet visiting businesses and local residents through announced gatherings.
  • Explore regional industry information and direct business contacts in the directory.

Education and knowledge sharing

Discussion with visiting University of Auckland MBA students in Shenzhen

NZGBA brings local experience into discussions with universities, students, educators, professionals and visiting organisations. Educational exchange can connect academic interests with the experience of people living and working in the region.

On 19 August 2026, Andre, NZGBA's founder, spoke with visiting University of Auckland MBA students in Shenzhen about the city, entrepreneurship, the Greater Bay Area and New Zealand connections in southern China.

Future talks, peer discussions and exchanges could be developed with willing speakers, educational organisations and visiting groups. Topics and arrangements would be agreed for each activity; these ideas are not an established course, placement or mentoring programme.

New Zealand cultural representation

NZGBA supports grassroots New Zealand representation by organising opportunities to share culture, products and sport with local audiences. Kiwis, volunteers and participating businesses contribute their skills and experience, helping strengthen New Zealand's presence through real activity.

On 19 September 2026, NZGBA organised the New Zealand section of the Hello APEC Oceania cultural market in Shekou. The programme included cricket activities, pavlova, mānuka honey, toys, wine and a haka performance.

Earlier, on 23 July, NZGBA volunteered in the New Zealand Culture session of the Hello APEC Shekou Summer Camp, for local and international children aged 6-12.

Regional connections, fairs and visiting groups

Regional collaboration can connect residents, visiting businesses and organisations across the GBA. Trade fairs provide opportunities for New Zealand-connected attendees and local Kiwis to meet outside the exhibition halls. See Events for announced gatherings, participation details and recaps of past NZGBA activity.

Cross-city community connections

Explore ways for residents and local contacts in different GBA cities to meet and share knowledge, building on interest rather than assuming an established NZGBA group in every city.

Trade-fair gatherings and briefings

Meet New Zealand-connected attendees outside the exhibition halls. Pre-fair briefings and post-fair discussions could complement announced networking events where there is demand.

Focused business and professional visits

Develop small-group visits or local discussions around a relevant industry, visiting group or professional interest, with hosts and arrangements agreed in advance.

Educational and cultural collaboration

Consider suitable exchanges with students, educators, cultural groups and other organisations, drawing on the MBA visit and Hello APEC experience.

Businesses, universities, professional groups and community organisations can suggest an activity with a clear purpose, interested participants and willing hosts. These are ideas for future work; no ongoing delegation programme or city-by-city schedule is confirmed.
